The Giro Saros Cycling Helmet Reviewed

The Giro Saros incorporates advanced road-cycling technology into a helmet that every leisure cyclist will be able to enjoy. Priced according to size and supplier it’s very affordable.

Devotees of cycling helmets (of which I have to say I’m one) would say that no price is too high to pay for head protection – but in the real world price remains an issue for most. However this sort of technology at this sort of price looks to be great value.

It’s packed full of style as well. It’s a fact that many leisure cyclists would find the styling of an out-and-out road helmet far too agressive and unsuitable. The Saros will look at home around town as well as out on the open road.

Advanced in-mould manufacturing techniques bond the inner polystyrene body to the hard outer shell in one step as the helmet is moulded. The area around the vents and ribs is reinforced for greater impact resistance and shock absorption.

In this way, the vents can be made large, so increasing the airflow around the head for improved cooling. As a result, it comes as no surprise that the light weight and great ventilation are two of the features most complimented by users of the helmet.

There’s a small niggle quoted by some, that the front vents do not have netting, as some models do, to keep out insects. So watch out for bees!

The Saros is available in 3 sizes – . Fine adjustment to the fit is by applying the adhesive pads and by the use of the RocLoc system. This system adjusts the internal straps with a ratchet dial at the rear of the helmet to get a perfect fit. So you can put on a hat in cold weather without having to take out and put back in the pads.

The helmet comes in a wide range of colourways, so you can even find one to match your bike if you want!

The Giro Saros meets CE EN1078 certification, so you can be assured that when properly worn, it will give you the best protection possible.

The design of the Saros ensures that it will suit the needs of a wide range of cyclists. So whether it’s commuting, casual weekend cycling or more serious road riding, this helmet looks to fit the bill.
