Why Is EPA Important?

Learn More About Going Green – Ride An Electric Bike

landfills

Do you know how the EPA , otherwise known as the Environmental Protection Agency, works for you? It affects you on a daily basis but you are probably not aware of the small differences one agency can make. Your vehicle gives off fewer emissions than twenty years ago. There are more recycling programs available and industries are now accountable for their waste byproducts. Even aerosol cans and household pesticides are governed by this agency.

The EPA, or the US environmental police, works in agreement with other world organizations to create a better world with less pollution. The laws regarding pollution need to be more strict, with more fines levied against those who choose not to abide. You can do your part by demanding tougher laws for industries that are repeatedly caught dumping hazardous waste into the environment.

Perhaps the greatest contact the American citizen has with the Environmental Protection Agency is the recycling program found in local cities and towns. There are laws governing the illegal dumping of hazardous waste into the environment. They push for corporations and businesses to join a recycling program to benefit the environment and serve as an example, with regard to the serious nature of pollution and overflowing landfills.

The Environmental Protection Agency covers endangered species, as well as air, water, land and hazardous waste pollution. They help to protect the environment in more ways that you could possibly think one agency is capable of doing but they manage to get it done. Without this agency regulating the industry and helping people get into a recycling program , this country would be in an appalling condition.

There is no denying the importance of the environmental protection laws in all industrialized nations. It is through their diligent efforts that the water, air and soil are protected. If you need more information on starting a movement to reduce the amount of recyclables in landfills, then you can visit the US website at www.epa.org for more information. You will be doing your part to ensure that more people join the revolution in waste management because every little bit counts when it comes to saving our environment.

Helping the environment in 10 steps

Would you like to go green painlessly and have fun doing it? Get A Power Assist Electric Bike , travel up to 20 mph.

The Green Effect

During this economic crisis and continued global warming, the need for sustainable development has become a now issue instead of a later issue. Both private and government entities (including the EPA ) have come up with programs and products that promote “green” production and consumption. These environment-friendly practices are now being used in numerous firms and industries.

But what about our humble abodes? Are our homes as "anti global waming" as they should be? Continued efforts to sustain the environment should first and foremost be undertaken under our own roof. These can be done with the use of products that consume less energy and other resources. Over time, the use of these products can result not only in savings but also in the reduction of waste and materials harmful to our homes and the environment.

Here’s a quick list of 10 items I’ve discovered that can make a world of a difference.

1. Heat-energy recovery system

· Sensible Heat Energy Recovery System (SHERS) uses heat generated from an air-conditioner or refrigerator to heat water. Payback period is anywhere from six months to two years

2.The Eco Bio Block

· Made of volcanic stones and beneficial bacteria, is used to purify water in home aquariums, water tanks and big bodies of water such as ponds, lakes and marshes. When placed in aquariums for the home, there is no need to filter, clean or change water for a period of one to three years.

3. Biowash ball

· Washing clothes without using a detergent may seem strange. Introducing the Anabess biowash ball, it’s made of natural ceramics & alters the chemical composition of the water so it can wash clothes more effectively without liquid detergent. It should last over 3 years. Think of the savings in wear & tear on the car from running to the store for more detergent.

4. Air-con with inverter technology

· The Panasonic Envio series of air-conditioners makes use of an “inverter technology” that changes compressor operation speed to match a changing room temperature and adjust power output accordingly, which leads to reduced energy consumption of up to 50 percent, while product only costs about 14% more than the average AC. The payback period may be expected in about seven months..

5.Low Flow faucets

· Moen has heeded the call for water conservation by coming up with WaterSense-certified bathroom faucets. With the help of new aerator technology these Moen faucets use 30% less water than other models but still feel just as powerful on your hands.

6. Compact fluorescent lamp

· Much has been said about the efficiency of compact fluorescent lamps or CFLs. They last about 5x longer than incandescent lamps and consume 80 percent less energy with the same level of brightness. Companies such as Purely Products even carry CFLs that double as ionizers for the room, eliminating the need for an unsightly ionizer on the floor.

7.Reusable shopping bags

· The impact of just one person changing to reusable bags over a two-year period is significant. Used twice a week for two years a consumer would save 832 plastic bags from going in a landfill.

8.Biodegradable Cellulose Sandwich bags

· Typical plastic bags are derived from petroleum and take well over a lifespan to decompose. These biodegrade in 30 to 90 days in soil BUT actually keep food lasting longer, unlike plastic, they don’t release gases which spoil food taste.

9.Smart Surge Protector

· Green Home introduced a smart surge protector. The power strip can ‘sense’ the flow of electrical current through the strip’s control outlet. The Smart Strip can fully power off selected items when not in use with this patent pending unique feature!

A small electronic device inside the Smart Strip monitors the current on a single outlet. Let’s say the computer is plugged into that single outlet. When your computer is finished shutting down, the current draw from the computer drops to its idle current — and the Smart Strip senses the current change, automatically shutting off all of the computer peripherals.

The Smart Strip Power Strip is the only surge protector on the market today with energy saving electronics. The 10 outlet surge protector version has 1 Control Outlet, 3 Constant Hot Outlets, and 6 Switched Outlets.

10.Compostable Trash Bags

· These BioBags are made from GMO free starch and are 100% biodegradable and 100% compostable.

Now that you know about these products start using them daily. We each can do our part by changing our daily routines just slightly.

E-Bike – new trend?

If you are considering an electric bike you are not alone. They are growing in popularity around the globe, as pollutions, and fuel prices drag us forward to rethink our motoring options. Going green with an electric bike is a simple way to do your part to reduce your carbon foot print You can purchase an electric bicycle motor kit for your own bike and have it together in less than an hour. Then you will be on your way at up to 20mpg. saving fuel, car insurance, and living the green life.

E-Bike Trendy

Sales of electric bikes constantly grow. This year 170 thousand units were already sold in the US. While during last year 120 thousand units were sold. Increase in sales can be explained by economic situation (gasoline prices) and flexibility in movement (no traffic jams). And there is an added value of owners feeling they contribute to "greener" environment.

There is an old Russian saying: "Everything new is well forgotten old." First motorized bicycle was invented more than 100 years ago. But it was almost ignored by the western world since then. And there is no doubt that for most people driving a car to work is more comfortable than an electric bicycle . E-bikes can become an alternative to cars due to economic crisis and technological improvements.

There are several things to consider before purchasing an e-bike or even a folding electric bike :
If you buy it, will you use it?
Environmental variables – yearly average number of rainy days in your region, average temperature, the level of air pollution, etc.
On the way you’re planning to use,are there special lines for bikes?
Do you have facilities? For example: are there showers at your workplace if you want to use e-bike to reach work,?
Do you have any health limitations/inconveniences that may prevent you from riding a bicycle? For instance: you start feeling your knees after some time.

If you decided to buy an e-bike, you can use it to get a better shape. How to do it? We can divide training into two main parts: aerobic and anaerobic. "Aerobic" means "requiring air", where "air" usually means oxygen. Anaerobic without air means the opposite of aerobics. Human physiology allows us to reach maximim intensities for short periods of time (anaerobic) and sustain medium intensity for longer periods (aerobic). Thus,100m sprint will be anaerobic and 5km run with constant speed will be considered aerobics. From now on I’ll assume that e-bike will be used for long distances, thus we’re talking about aerobics.

Man to travel round world on electric bicycle

You can convert your own bike into an electric very simply with a electric bike motor kit. Going green has never been easier, follow one man’s journey on an electric bicycle.

However, that might soon change if an-out-work restaurant manager is successful in riding a Wisper electric bicycle around the world from Beijing to London, scheduled to arrive in time for the 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony.

The journey being undertake by a 33-year-old Spaniard from Barcelona Guim Valls Teruel, starting from the Bird’s Nest Olympic Stadium in Beijing in May will cross five continents concluding three years later in east London.

"I want to spread the message of this incredible invention to all corners of the world," he said announcing his journey in Beijing, "millions of Chinese people already use them and they can be an important part of a green revolution in the rest of the world." Mr Teruel, who came to China two years ago to manage a restaurant which then folded, bought an electric bike – also known as a "pedelec" – when he got fed up with sitting in Beijing’s interminable traffic jams.
Mr Teruel plans to pedal-glide through China, Australia, India, Europe, South America and the east coast of the United States before arriving in England via Ireland using solar power to recharge his three batteries.

He added "It’s so easy it feels like you’re floating".

The electric bike even the folding electric bike – a pedal bicycle which is assisted by a battery-powered motor that makes pedaling feel almost effortless – has caught on with astonishing speed in China, a nation of 450 million push-bike owners.

According to the China Bicycle Association, sales of electric bikes stood at 58,000 in 1998, compared with the 20 million recorded just a decade later in 2008. Industry analysts have predicted that 350 million Chinese could eventually upgrade to an electric.
The e-bike has been much slower to catch on in Europe and America, even though it is has zero emissions, is whisper-quiet and can deliver a commuter to his desk in London or Barcelona without the need for a shower and a change of clothes.
